This topic never gets old. Inevitably, there is always someone out there who is starting out with their website, or wants something more from it. Most people have a few choices when they want to put their thoughts into action and that is --
1. Hire someone to do it
2. Bribe a friend that knows how to do it
3. Do it themselves.
The first one costs the most money. The second one is a good idea, but the third is the way to go. Number 3 however takes time and there is a learning curve. Even with many blogs and automated website creators, mounting a website is a daunting task that will leave many in the cold.
Lets face it -- not all of us have time to learn a new craft. Here is a short list of what you need to get started on your website -- before you pay or bribe anyone to do it.
Even if you are not going to hire anyone to help you with your site, it is a good idea to spend a few hours sketching out the site with a pen or pencil. Anyone who uses the web has the ability to do this, and they should.
1. Get a logo -- this is going to define you, so get yourself a logo!
2. Get a domain name -- this is going to be the name of your site for a long time (hopefully) so get yourself a name.
3. Sketch -- take out some paper, and get a pencil. Draw out your site how you see it in your head. This will work wonders when you hire or bribe someone to work on your site.
Don't be afraid and remember you can do no wrong. If you've been thinking about getting a website going for sometime but don't know what to do -- take the matter into your own hands and march forward!
You have the power!
